Go ahead. Write your big-hearted book.
Hello, writers. I’m Dinah Laprairie, an editor and certified book coach who helps everyday experts transform their knowledge and experiences to drive social change, inspire their communities, or leave a lasting legacy.
If that is you, I want to work with you to clarify your message, structure your book, and stay accountable to your goal. I can support you through book planning, outlining, drafting, and revision. You'll be coached in mindset, craft, and accountability as you shape your message. Writers of fiction, nonfiction, and memoir are welcome.
My reader-centered approach and editorial expertise will support you when you need a partner in publication.
My aim is to make you a more confident writer so that you can write forward and reach the readers who need to hear from you.
I’m here to serve you, the writer.
I serve people who want to inspire change at the personal or community level — people who write in service to others.
I serve people who have reached a point in their lives where they have deep knowledge and experience to pass along as legacy. They are considered leaders by the people around them because they showed up and did the work themselves, and now they are ready to share what they learned.
I serve people who want to write how-to books, self-help, business books, memoir. I coach writers of fiction, writers of cookbooks and resource books, and writers of books that sit on a shelf of their own.
I serve people who arrive with big ideas for their books, but who don’t yet have book plans.
I serve people who are mid-manuscript and need guidance to move forward in writing.
I serve people who may not yet know their publishing path.
I serve people who want to write, who like to write, and who want to write better.
Most of all, I serve writers who want to connect deeply to readers.
But I’m also an advocate for your readers.
When we work together, I support you first as the writer, but I am not only your book coach: I am also your reader’s advocate. Reader-centered writing is a focus of my book coaching. I want you to connect with readers through your writing; they are the ones who will carry your message forward into the world, after all. Readers will help your voice be heard. That’s why my editorial feedback and coaching support stays focused on the reader’s experience of your message.

Book Coaching Services
Mindset and craft support, when you need it.
What would it mean if you could speak directly to people who wanted to hear what you have to say?
A book coach can help you do that.
I'm here to support you with the craft of writing, but I am also here to help you meet your goals: to hold you accountable to the work. Get in touch to find out how I can support you through book planning, outlining, drafting, and revision. You'll be coached in mindset, craft, and accountability as you shape your message.
PLANNING & OUTLINING
If you have a great idea for a book but you don't know where to start, I can help you move your idea into a plan. In your coaching sessions, you will explore your reasons for writing and your book's purpose, and you will identify the readers who want to hear from you. Out of this work, you can begin to structure and outline your book. This foundational work prepares you for drafting your manuscript or writing your book proposal.
WRITING FORWARD
Many writers find they can meet their writing goals faster with external accountability and outside eyes. When it is time to write your manuscript, ask me to support you with deadlines and feedback on your drafts. In your coaching sessions, scheduled once or twice a month, we will review your writing goals, discuss what challenges you are facing in your writing sessions, and set deadlines for your next pages. Before your next session, I will review your submission and offer feedback on your early drafts.
REVIEWING & REVISING
Do you find yourself with a draft in hand, not sure how to move forward with revisions, or struggling to stay true to your message? As your book coach, I can review my editorial eye and suggest some tools to help you find your way forward in writing.
PREPARING TO PUBLISH
When you are ready to share your book plan and pages in a book proposal, whether for an agent or publisher, I can coach you through proposal development and agent or publisher search. Build your proposal from scratch or ask for a review.
Various book coaching packages are available depending on your support needs and where you are in your manuscript. I have time-limited packages and monthly coaching. Ask me about these options:
6-Session Clarity & Confidence Coaching Package
2-Session Mini Blueprint & Outline Package
Reach Your Reader Strategy Session

Manuscript Momentum Monthly 1:1 Coaching
Outside Eyes Manuscript Review

Will a partner in the process help you? Book a call with me to find out. You can tell me about your book project or idea, what is working and what is needed, and we'll discuss next steps.
If book coaching seems right for you, I'll share ways we can work together. If you need another publishing support professional, I'll let you know. In any case, you'll come away with a better idea of your next step, and you'll get a taste of book coaching and whether we are a good fit.

Biography
Dinah Laprairie coaches writers from the early stages of their book’s development through to their proposal and query. Dinah has filled many behind-the-scenes support roles over her career, at times a copy editor, proofreader, magazine editor and publisher, and at others a college English instructor and workshop facilitator. She was the first Chair of the Board of Directors for Wordstock Sudbury Literary Festival. Her editorial and coaching work focuses on meeting the writer's goals while upholding the reader's needs and expectations.
Over the years, Dinah has supported many writers dedicated to the craft and many others who were exploring it for the first time. For 13 years, Dinah was the Editor-Publisher of the literary magazine Open Minds Quarterly, where she worked with writers from across the globe living with mental illness, madness or marginalization, from submission to publication. She continues to have a soft spot for projects that challenge the status quo and aim to improve the lives of people experiencing unfairness. Dinah was a member of the Ontario Arts Council’s Deaf and Disability Arts & Access Advisory Group from 2019-2021, a co-author of a chapter on creative activities in mental health recovery in Creek's Occupational Therapy textbook (Elsevier, 2021), and was a presenter at various conferences in Canada and the US on "How to Help Your Peers Tell Their Stories in Writing."
Today, Dinah is an Author Accelerator-certified book coach, licensed to use the Blueprint for a Book method. She works with writers who want to make a change by sharing their stories on the page, whether it’s practical advice for specific audiences, big ideas that need to be brought to the reading public, or novels that cause time to disappear.
In her off-hours, you’ll find Dinah reading crime novels and news bytes, listening to podcasts, or deep in other pursuits like cross-stitching, line dancing, or trying new recipes in the kitchen. She lives in the Greater Sudbury area of Northeastern Ontario, in the traditional territories of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek and Wahnapitae First Nations, with her husband, children, and their sweet but smelly dog.
